Orewa College was one of the first NZ schools to develop an international programme over 30 years ago. With this experience and a firm belief in the cultural benefits of young people from around the world getting together, we continue to welcome students to join our school family from all over the globe.
Our location gives students the best of both worlds - 30km north of Auckland city on a regular bus route, while living in a safe beachside community surrounded by nature and the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. Our 4 day Orientation programme settles students in well and provides them with a local buddy to get to know.
Orewa College suits long and short term students. Long term students, looking for academic study will enter for NCEA, the NZ qualification. There is a wide range of subjects available and the International department will guide you and monitor carefully your progress.
Students who want an experience without exams, may wish to choose different subjects from home, often practical ones and take “NZ Experience” where they will get the opportunity to experience much about kiwi culture including overnight camping.
Orewa College offers many activities outside the classroom from sports, music, drama and other clubs. We are in tune with local community activities as well, such as surfing, sailing, scouts and environmental volunteer opportunities. Students who get involved, feel more connected and we strive to make each student develop a sense of belonging.
