We have a culture of inclusiveness that values diversity and understanding, learning about, and interacting with other cultures. We have many resources that are the envy of other schools such as:

We welcome visitors to our school and enjoy showing prospective families and children around. We have had the privilege of hosting our Prime Minister in 2015, international visitors from Korea, China and the USA, teaching teams from a range of schools across New Zealand and from Australia. We have established Sister School connections in China and have links with other schools in China, Korea, India, and Hungary. Teachers and Senior Leaders from Oropi School have presented at a range of national conferences, and most recently at an AFS Intercultural Conference in Budapest, 2018. Many staff from our school have recently visited China and Korea to connect with our contacts and learn about other cultures and education systems. We have had two groups of students travel to China.

All our international children receive ESOL lessons on a one to one basis for 50 minutes, 4 days a week. We have specially trained ESOL teachers on hand to provide a tailor made individual program to all the ESOL children.

About Tauranga

Tauranga is the Bay of Plenty’s largest city, centred on a busy port and harbour. With beaches at nearby Mount Maunganui, it offers growing employment, schooling and an outdoor coastal lifestyle.

Bay of Plenty Region

The Bay of Plenty Region covers a sweeping stretch of eastern North Island coastline, known for golden beaches, geothermal zones and fertile farmland. It was named “Bay of Plenty” by explorer James Cook after he noted its abundant food supplies, and the region still retains strong links with Māori heritage, with many iwi (tribes), hapū and marae present. Agriculture, forestry and tourism are pillars of the regional economy, and the region also offers strong lifestyle appeal with sunshine, surf-friendly seas and a mix of medium-sized towns. For schools seeking to attract international students, Bay of Plenty offers a laid-back yet active setting, combining regional amenity with accessibility.
